Krista Fenech, Rehab Therapist
Krista joins our team here at Hope Wellness Clinic as a Kinesiologist/Rehab Assistant and is looking forward to playing an active role in supporting others on their healing journeys. She has both professional rehabilitation knowledge and personal experience which has led to a strong understanding of the key components in how the body and brain function together and she is on a quest to help improve the quality of life for others.
Krista obtained her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, with a Minor in Community Rehabilitation from the University of Calgary. During this time, she began working as a Behavioural Aide with children who were Neurodiverse. Krista moved to Sylvan Lake to live with her husband after graduating. She worked as a Personal Trainer for a while before landing a job as an Occupational Therapy Assistant at the Red Deer Hospital on the Stroke Rehab Unit. Her love of rehabilitation was ignited again and her passion in supporting people in moving forward in their lives. Since joining Hope Wellness Clinic, she has also continued her education by completing the Core Exercise Solutions Postpartum Exercise Therapy course. She also completed an intensive course on concussion therapy through Concussion Nerds with Natasha Wilch. She is committed to continuing to learn to help serve our patients the best she can!
A year after Krista’s second daughter was born her life took an unexpected turn when she began experiencing physical, neurological, and emotional symptoms. Dr Allison played a pivotal role in taking a complete history and diagnosed her with Post-Concussion Syndrome; the several concussions that Krista had sustained from sports during University had not resolved and had developed into persistent debilitating symptoms. Krista began her own neuro research and active treatment for her symptoms and was determined to find the root cause of her symptoms.
Working at Hope Wellness Clinic allows Krista both the lifestyle and the career path that she has dreamed of pursuing. After witnessing so many people, including herself yearning to find educated practitioners who could validate and treat her symptoms it is an honour to work alongside Dr Allison; Krista deeply respects Dr Allison’s lifelong commitment to learning and is still in awe that her dreams have come true to work alongside the practitioner that helped Krista move forward in her own healing.
Life outside of the clinic for Krista focuses on raising two incredible daughters, alongside her husband. She finds great solace in the outdoors and you may see her hiking in the mountains or paddle boarding at the lake; Krista hopes to be able to return to snowboarding once her physical stamina increases as she misses the slopes. One of the highlights every week is her pottery class which is not only a creative outlet, but a time to engage with women in the community.
Krista believes wholeheartedly in functional rehabilitation and knows that it is a privilege to take this journey alongside the people who come to our clinic. She is ready to walk this rehabilitation road with you.
